Resize an image without stretching it
Leave the aspect-ratio lock on and changing one dimension automatically calculates the other. Turn it off only when you intentionally need a specific width and height that may change the image's proportions.
Pixels, dimensions, and file size
Pixel dimensions determine how much visual detail the file can contain. Reducing a 4000 × 3000 photo to 1200 × 900 removes many pixels and will usually make the file smaller. If a strict upload limit matters, resize here and then use the image compressor to target a size in KB. Preparing a page for print? See the A4 size in inches, centimeters, millimeters, and pixels.
What the resizer preserves
The output keeps the original JPG, PNG, or WebP format. PNG transparency is preserved; transparent pixels are placed on white when a source is encoded as JPG. The fresh export does not copy EXIF metadata.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image by pixels?
Choose an image, enter the target width or height in pixels, keep Lock aspect ratio enabled if you do not want stretching, and select Resize image.
Will resizing reduce the file size?
Usually, especially when you reduce the pixel dimensions. File size also depends on format, image detail, and encoding.
Does the image resizer upload files?
No. The browser decodes and redraws the image locally, then creates the downloadable file on your device.
