Calculate playback time at any speed

Divide the original duration by the playback speed: adjusted time = original time ÷ speed. A 90-minute lecture at 1.25× takes 72 minutes. A 12-hour audiobook at 1.5× takes 8 hours, saving 4 hours.

Video, podcast, and audiobook speed calculator

Enter the time you have left, not necessarily the total length. Use the comparison table to plan a listening session. Slower speeds add time: a 30-minute practice track at 0.75× takes 40 minutes.

This calculator does not change a file. To listen at another speed, use the audio speed changer or play chapters in the local audiobook player.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a one-hour video at 1.5× speed?

40 minutes. Divide 60 minutes by 1.5. You save 20 minutes, or 33.3% of the original duration.

Can I use this as an audiobook speed calculator?

Yes. Enter the remaining audiobook duration in hours, minutes, and seconds, then choose your listening speed. The same calculation works for podcasts and video.

Does 2× speed cut listening time in half?

Yes. A 10-hour audiobook takes 5 hours at 2×, excluding pauses and breaks. At 0.5× it takes 20 hours.
