How to view a CSV file online
- Choose a CSV, TSV or text file, or paste comma-separated data.
- Check the detected delimiter and encoding. Turn off the header option if the first row is data.
- Search all columns or one column, sort a heading, and select a cell to make a correction.
- Download all matching rows as CSV or JSON. Clear the tool when you are finished.
Your identifiers should still be identifiers
Spreadsheet software can turn product codes into numbers and date-like strings into dates. Here, 00123 stays 00123. Even long account identifiers stay intact. Sorting compares text, so “10” comes before “2”; it does not silently reinterpret the column as numbers.
Messy CSV files deserve useful feedback
A comma inside a quoted field belongs to the cell, and a quoted line break can span multiple lines. This viewer handles both. If records have different widths, it tells you rather than discarding extra cells. A missing cell and an empty cell remain distinct in an unedited export. Broken quoted fields stop parsing with an error.
JSON exports use arrays to preserve duplicate and blank headers. Open the result in the JSON formatter and validator to explore it. Before passing an export to a colleague, the checksum generator can create a hash they can compare after transfer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I view CSV files online without uploading them?
Yes. This viewer reads the file in your browser. Search, sorting, cell edits and exports happen locally; the file is not uploaded or saved to browser storage.
Will leading zeros, dates or large numbers change?
Every cell is read as text. Values such as 00123, 09/10/2026 and 9007199254740993 are not converted into numbers or dates. Sorting is alphabetical text order. Spreadsheet-safe CSV export may add an apostrophe to formula-like cells; you can switch that protection off for an exact-value export.
Which delimiters and encodings are supported?
The viewer detects comma, semicolon, tab and pipe separators, or you can select one. Automatic encoding uses a UTF-16 byte-order mark when present and UTF-8 otherwise. Select Windows-1252 or UTF-16 manually if needed. Quoted delimiters, escaped quotes and multiline cells are supported.
What is included in the downloaded CSV or JSON?
Exports include all rows matching your search in the current sort order, with any edits, not just the visible page. CSV keeps the selected header and delimiter. JSON uses arrays of strings, including the header row when enabled, so duplicate column names do not overwrite data.
What are the file limits?
Open up to 20 MB of CSV text, 100,000 data rows plus a header, and 200 columns. The table shows 50 rows per page. Smaller files work best on phones.
